Luxembourg is going digital. Clinico is already there.
The CNS is putting every form you hand a patient online, one at a time. Two of those dates fall in the next few weeks, and only your software provider knows whether you are ready. Here is the calendar, and what Clinico does about each date.
If you're not on Clinico, make really sure your PID won't stop working on 20 September.
If nobody has told you your practice was moved to PID V2, assume it wasn't. On the Monday you will be treating patients you cannot bill.
The upside arrived before the obligation did.
Patients ask for it by name
PID has been running since 2024 and patients have noticed. They advance nothing and wait for no reimbursement, and they increasingly expect the practice they choose to offer it.
The CNS share lands in seconds
The insured part is transferred instantly with BCEE, BGL, BIL, ING and Raiffeisen. The stack of mémoires waiting to be paid stops existing.
Fewer rejected mémoires
Digital transmission is checked against the CNS rules as it goes out, so an error comes back in seconds rather than as a rejection weeks later.
Less admin work
No printing, no posting, no monthly batch. The paperwork leaves with the patient, and the CNS credits €0.10 per PID transaction on top.
What changes, and when
PID V1 arrives, then PID V2 replaces it
The agreement between the CNS and the AMMD moved the practice's paperwork online. PID V1 opened in March 2024 and PID V2, the version everyone runs on now, followed with Remboursement digitalisé beside it. With PID the patient pays only their part at the desk and the CNS transfers its share to you within seconds. With Remboursement digitalisé the mémoire goes digitally and the patient is paid back through the GesondheetsApp. Either satisfies the obligation, and Clinico is on the Agence eSanté's SONS V2 list for both.
PID V1 is switched off
On this Sunday the CNS turns PID V1 off for good. A practice that was never moved to PID V2 cannot take a PID payment from Monday morning, and nothing can be done about it at the desk. It is worth being certain rather than hopeful this week: if nobody has told you your practice was moved, assume it wasn't. Clinico moved to PID V2 long ago, so nothing changes here that day.
Paper mémoires stop working
From this date a mémoire d'honoraires has to reach the CNS electronically, in their format. A printed one posted to the CNS no longer counts. This covers the PID and Remboursement digitalisé modes; tiers payant and tiers payant social carry on as they are for now.
eCIT becomes mandatory
The AMMD and the CNS confirmed this in a circular on 20 August 2026. The eCIT is the electronic sick note: you write it in your software, sign it there, and it appears in your patient's MyGuichet.lu with a GouvCheck QR code that proves it is genuine. The circular tells practices to get this sorted now rather than in December.
eOrdonnance, the electronic prescription
It was meant to arrive in July 2026 and was pushed to January 2027 so the eCIT could settle first. We are waiting for the Agence eSanté to open it, and Clinico will follow as soon as they do. No date has been set for practices yet.
Europe sets its own dates
European rules require patient summaries and electronic prescriptions across the continent by March 2029, then lab results, imaging and hospital discharge reports by March 2031. Luxembourg is revising its law to match. It is far off, and it is one more reason the software you pick now should be one that updates itself.
Where Clinico stands on each
Paiement Immédiat Direct: the patient pays their part, the CNS pays you the rest within seconds. On the Agence eSanté's SONS V2 list and running in Clinico.
For patients who prefer to be paid back themselves. The mémoire goes digitally and the money reaches them through the GesondheetsApp. Also on the SONS V2 list.
Your mémoires reach the CNS electronically, in the official format, signed for you. Nothing to install at the practice.
Declare your assistants once in Mon Cabinet and they handle CNS billing under your name, without calling you away from the chair to sign in.
The official eSanté medicines list, updated monthly, so you prescribe from current Luxembourg data.

New European formats arrive in 2029. Software that updates itself will absorb them; a server in your practice will not.

Are you on PID V2?
The CNS switches PID V1 off on that Sunday. If you have not been told in writing that your practice was moved across, take that as your answer. From the Monday you are back to paper, back to waiting weeks for the money, and there is nothing to be done about it at the desk.

Can your assistant take a PID payment without you?
Older software used a single certificate that worked for whoever sat at the computer. PID V2 checks the practitioner's own LuxTrust every time. So unless your assistants are declared in Mon Cabinet and it genuinely works, every payment stops and waits for you to log in, between patients, all day. Most practices only discover this once it happens.
